Some of you may remember that we celebrated our first team wedding earlier this year as Nasaina, our raw materials manager, and Jemima, team cook extraordinaire, got married.
It is our great pleasure to introduce Nasaina and Jemima's first baby Natane Gaela!
Jemima and Natane are doing well and all are settling into life as a family of three. We've know Jemima and her family for many years now, Natane is the fourth generation we've have the privilege to meet! We're looking forward to seeing him grow over the years and hope that play our part in providing a stable and hope filled future for him through access to education and employment opportunities for Nasaina and Jemima.
We wish Nasaina, Jemima and baby Natane all the best and are looking forward to seeing them flourish over many more years of friendship and partnership.
On the 8th August this year, Kristina and the team opened the marvellous Sunset Kite Center & Shop in El Médano, Tenerife. They stocked the shop with carefully selected pieces from brands that they loved (including Ravinala), threw the doors wide open and invited the public in. They've had a great first month and we're looking forward to hearing about their adventures for many years to come.
Kristina and the team were attracted to Ravinala, not just because they're beautiful products, but because they come with a beautiful story, a story of hope. It means so much to us when people take time to understand why we work the way we do, if you've never read our story then check it out here
We love the way they've laid out the shop and displayed our products, especially the cool bespoke shelving units. We're delighted to say that the bags and throws have had such a great reception that Kristina has already come back to place another order!
If you're ever in Tenerife and want to take some kiteboard lessons, or you're looking for a friendly shop to buy some high quality surf and beach wear then be sure to check out Sunset Kite Center and say 'Hi' from us!.
We've said it before and we'll say it again, SurfGirl Magazine is one for our faves, so were super excited to pick up issue 51 of SurfGirl magazine and find our bags featured in it!
As well as a short feature piece specifically about our bags (which you can purchase from SurfGirls online store - www.surfgirlbeachboutique.com), we spotted pictures of our 'Bonbon basket' on several other pages throughout the magazine shot by the wonderful Magdalena Bieth.
Why not pick up a copy for yourself, it's a great read, plus you can play 'spot the ravinala bag' whilst you're reading. See how many you can find!
Have you seen any of our bags out and about, in shops or in the press? why not let us know on twitter or facebook with the hashtags #Ravinala #Spotted
Our Bali Clutch Bag has been featured in the fashion section of this month's Surrey Occasions Magazine. The feature showcases our Bali Clutch alongside a number of other gorgeous accessories that are 'Perfect for the poolside'.
The page also contains an advert for one of our stockists; The Gate. Next time you're in Guildford why not pop in, it's a stunning boutique with some really lovely pieces in stock.
View the feature online by clicking here, or if you live in Surrey you may well have a copy through your door.
We recently joined BTAA (The British Travelgoods and Accessories Association) and they were kind enough to introduce us in their regular slot in Attire Accessories Magazine (May/June edition).
You can view the magazine online at http://www.attireaccessories.com
We're looking forward to introducing our SS16 collection at Pure this August. We'll be sending out press releases in advance of the show, so keep your eyes open to catch a first glimpse of the collection.
If you have a press opportunity you'd like to talk to us about then get in touch.
As well as designing and producing our own stunning collection of sustainable and ethical fashion accessories, we offer a bespoke design and manufacturing service. We're really proud to collaborate with some of the most prestigious luxury swim and resort wear brands in the world on bespoke projects and so excited to see some of our work featured in Elle and Vogue magazines this month!
These bespoke projects provide more opportunities for our team of artisan makers in Madagascar and allow us to continue to invest in the community where our workshop is based.
From the word go, we've trained and worked directly with local people in rural communities in Madagascar. There is no middle importer or hidden source. Everything is produced in an ecological and socially fair manner by educating, training up and employing all our own staff. All our materials are sustainably sourced, and where possible we choose natural fibres and materials. All our profits are reinvested directly back into developing this social enterprise project in Madagascar.
SurfGirl Magazine is one of our faves and now there's yet another reason to love them, they've just relaunched their online shop (SurfGirl Beach Boutique) and started stocking a selection of our bags.
Here's what they've got to say about it :
"Beach Boutique, is SurfGirl’s online shop with a difference! We've carefully hand picked a treasure chest of cool things to give your home a beach house vibe from cushion covers to beach art. As well as everything you need for the perfect beach day from bags to bikinis (which stay on in the surf), we’ve got all the latest surf accessories for beginner to more advanced surfers."
We're delighted that SurfGirl have chosen some of our bags for their 'treasure chest' and wish them all the best with the newly re-launched shop.
You can view their full collection online at www.surfgirlbeachboutique.com and we love it!
