On 2/6/15 we set out for the Cornish coast with a great team, some stunning locations and, of course, beautiful new raffia bags and hats to shoot. We had such fun and we're delighted with the results, but it wasn't all plain sailing!
Unfortunately, we arrived to our first shoot location in the pouring rain, and it remained pretty miserable for the entire morning. Although it may be more reflective of the average British summer, a blustery and rainy day wasn't quite what we had in mind when we booked the shoot.
By mid day everyone had begun to feel a little anxious, we'd been assured that the sun was due to make and appearance but that was seeming less and less probably as time marched on. Most of the team took shelter inside whilst a few of us tried to ensure everything was ready to go in faith that the sun would eventually break through.
Amazingly, soon after mid-day the sun popped out and we were able to start shooting. Within what seem'd like a matter of minutes the clouds had vanished and we were gifted with the most exquisite day. The locations couldn't have been more perfect and both Carbis Bay and Lusty Glaze were exceptional hosts, ensuring we had everything we needed to make the shoot a real success.
Our photographers for the shoot, Brad and Archie from Reef Design worked tirelessly to get the perfect shots and we really couldn't be any more excited about sharing them with you! All that hard work takes it's toll though and eventually it got just a bit too much for Brad. You'd think a photographer with his experience would have a little more stamina, but alas, we lost him to the black blanket of despair.
We'll be launching our SS16 collection at Pure London this August, so keep checking our exhibitor profile and social media channels for sneaky previews over the next couple of months. . .
Now that Christmas is out the way the smell of Spring is on its way! Excitement is mounting as the start of our new 2015 designs are heading out to our stockists, with plenty more on their way in the coming months.
We're so pleased that it's finally 2015 because it means that we get to properly share our 2015 collection with you! Not just in pictures but in real life, you can hold it, wear it, even buy it! Some pieces are already in stock at our warehouse, some have already been sent out to stockists and the rest are now on a container ship somewhere between our workshop in Madagascar and our warehouse in Devon, England.
2014 was great year for us, we changed name, re-branded, added a new line and more than double our number of stockists. We've been working really hard both in the UK and Madagascar to make this years collection the best yet, and we're sure that, when you see it, you'll agree we've achieved that with some room to spare!
We're really looking forward to seeing many of you at Spring Fair in February and can't wait to show off the new collection!
Happy Christmas and a big thank you from Ravinala team!

After a slippery start, our 2015 collection has made the long journey from Madagascar to the UK ready for sending out to our stockists.
The lorry arrived at our UK warehouse at and once Rebecca had managed to break the seal on the container, apparently it's harder than it looks, see image for reference. We rounded up a group of friends to help and fuelled by cookies and coffee we eagerly set to work unloading, counting and moving into the warehouse. We emptied the whole container in a lightning quick 24 minutes and 57 seconds!
The stock is all now safely stowed away in our warehouse ready for picking and shipping, and the very first 2015 collection orders have already been packed and sent out.
So, what are you waiting for? Browse and order online from the 2015 collection now and we'll get it despatched asap.
We had the great privilege of shooting some of our Spring Summer Collection 2015 at Overbecks, Devon, National Trust. It was the perfect setting, with lush green surroundings and coastal views to die for. It was also a pleasure and delight to work for the first time with Devon based photographer Emma Solley. Emma was great fun to shoot with and really worked with us to achieve some, I'm sure you'll agree, truly stunning images! You can see more of the images we shot at Overbooks in our SS15 Catalogues and there'll be more appearing online in the coming months.
We also got the chance to work again with the ever brilliant Ben Barber, who is now based in Dubai. Ben worked with us on all our lifestyle shots for the SS14 collection and was back in the UK to shoot for us again this year. We had a brilliant (if slightly damp) day enjoying the architecture around Royal William Yard in Plymouth. Ben was, once more an absolute pleasure to work with and we're absolutely delighted with the results.
If you appreciate stunning scenery, gorgeous gardens and beautiful edwardian buildings then pay Overbecks a visit, you'll love it!
